Againt My Better Judgement

There have been late afternoon thunderstorms all week. But this afternoon, it was sunny with puffy white clouds in the sky. Surely, it wouldn't storm in the next hour or so. When Elise woke up from her nap, we packed up a snack and headed for Meijer to do a little grocery shopping. Forty-five minutes later, as I headed for the parking lot, it started raining....CATS and DOGS! Not only had I left our windows open at home, but my car windows were open too. Fearing the worst, I asked a nice elderly woman who was waiting for her ride to watch Elise so that I could race to my car and pull it up to the door. I know what you're thinking....child endangerment, right? Let me reassure you, the woman was harmless....she could barely walk. After dumping the grocery bags in the trunk, loading Elise in the car and racing home, you'd never guess what happened. It stopped raining! And the house was dry (not a drop of water anywhere inside). I, on the otherhand, was soaked to the bone and looked like a drowned rat.

I should have known better.

I'm Outta Here!

My friend Emily and her little boy Noah were over visiting this morning. Elise asked for help getting her shoes on and without hesitation, I helped her to slip on her new sneakers. The next thing I heard was the front door slamming. Elise had opened the storm door, gone outside and was headed down the sidewalk! Guess I'm gonna have to keep the door locked from now on.

What a stinker! What am I gonna do when she figures out how to unlock it!?!

This is it!

I'm not typically the type to give into pressure....but I finally caved. You see, I'm terrible at keeping anything remotely similar to a diary. I've had the best of intentions, but from past experience, this hasn't gotten me very far. So, we'll see how long this "diary" lasts. With any luck, I'll keep you updated with the latest from our household.....keep your fingers crossed!
